Not too sure about that dry mix that comes with your Easy Bake Oven? Me neither. After the first successful creation with her oven (and trying to stomach the mix with water batter and icing), I told my daughter we would use regular icing. Then after many cookie, brownie, pretzel, cake, etc creations, I thought there had to be a way to use regular cake mix.
Voila! It was easier than I thought it would be! Why didn’t I think of this sooner?
Step 1: Set out your materials and preheat your oven(s). There will be extra batter left over (obviously) from filling the little bitty pan, so make it into cupcakes!
Step 2: Follow directions on package, I didn’t find the need to alter the recipe.
Step 3: Fill Easy Bake Oven pan about halfway. Use the leftover batter for cupcakes. I tried to get my kids involved……but that ended up with me getting more frustrated.
Step 4: Bake! Place the baking pan into your oven, our Easy Bake Oven only needed about 10 minutes to bake this little red cake. Note: be careful not to remove the cake to check it, then place it back in. If the cake rises too much, you’ll end up scraping the top of it on the inside of your oven (see picture below).
Step 5: Enjoy! My daughter really enjoyed making both a little cake and cupcakes! Bonus: after about 10 minutes in the Easy Bake Oven, the cake came out nice and moist!
