    Paw Patrol Party (Girl)

Paw Patrol is such a fun and easy party to put together! From dog bowls to Scooby Snacks, there are plenty of ideas online and products available to put this party together on a reasonable budget. Here’s how I did mine for under $150! Invitations I started researching ideas online and my daughter helped me pick out a few invitations that she liked, which were used to inspire the creation of her invitation. She’s now just old enough to give me ideas and help me create things for her parties, which has been a very fun bonding experience. Here’s how this turned out, I think the use of bright pink,…

How to Bake Cake Mix Using Easy Bake Oven

Not too sure about that dry mix that comes with your Easy Bake Oven? Me neither. After the first successful creation with her oven (and trying to stomach the mix with water batter and icing), I told my daughter we would use regular icing. Then after many cookie, brownie, pretzel, cake, etc creations, I thought there had to be a way to use regular cake mix. Voila! It was easier than I thought it would be! Why didn’t I think of this sooner? Step 1: Set out your materials and preheat your oven(s).  There will be extra batter left over (obviously) from filling the little bitty pan, so make it…

    Under the Sea Birthday Party

For my son’s second birthday, we opted for an “Under the Sea” party theme, as he loves all things ocean and well, honestly, so do we. I must say, this has probably been my favorite party to plan and create for since the colors were bright and cheerful, the decorations were super easy DIY, and the food options were plentiful online. The overall color scheme and design elements started with the invitation. Colors, characters and even the flag pennant were carried throughout the party decorations. Luckily we have a dining room that isn’t being used for dining…instead I turned it into the “party room”! A few crepe paper streamers to…

    Teacher Appreciation Week 2016

My two lovely children (aka little balls of human tornado)  have a wonderful set of daycare teachers, and while trying to find easy and cost-effective Teacher Appreciation gifts I decided to create a week’s worth of smaller items instead of individual gifts. It turned out better than I expected, as all the teachers and staff were able to enjoy a little treat each day! Please excuse the quality on some of the images below, a couple mornings I forgot until the last minute to take a picture! Monday   Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Crayon Letters can be ordered at my Etsy shop: GiggleFish Creations

    Birth Announcement 8×10 Poster

When looking for customized room decor for my son’s nursery, I came across this idea online to create a poster of his birth announcement. I was able to use the colors we selected to decorate his room, and include all the details from his birth! Here is a preview of how it turned out. If you would like more information on ordering a custom birth announcement, please see my Etsy storefront.

    Southern Sweetheart 1st Birthday Party

As I was looking for ideas to celebrate my daughter’s first birthday, I was inundated with many “Texas” or “western” themes using bright colors and mostly pink. Although very young, I knew an overly pink themed party wasn’t right for my daughter’s personality, as she was already showing a spunky, independent and unique personality all her own. Since my husband and I love our Texas roots, I wanted to bring in some of these southern influences that were used in her nursery we created with colors of red, white and tan with sunflower and accents (this was also the theme of my baby shower as seen in the diaper cake…

Minnie Mouse (Red and White) Birthday Party

One of my favorite cartoons as kid was Mickey Mouse, and with the new generation of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, my daughter also shares a new love of Minnie Mouse (as do most toddlers)!  So for her 2nd birthday party, we decided on Minnie Mouse….but red and white Minnie Mouse. Great idea until I started looking for party supplies and all I could find was pink. So I created my own….. Pinata was made from a stroller box:  just cut my pattern, painted black, glued together and used black crepe paper for coverage! There are tons of posts for Minnie Mouse centerpieces, but I took a “southern” angle by adding white…

    Cowboy 1st Birthday Party

We kept a similar theme for my son’s first birthday party as my (now) 3 year old daughter’s “southern sweetheart“, and went with Cowboy for his first birthday party! My favorite project of his cowboy first birthday party was the invitation….I looked online for inspiration and finally settled on creating this one in Microsoft Word. Coordinating thank you cards were created after the party using a photo of him eating his smash cake! Decorations and centerpieces were kept simple, as the restaurant was full of character! Desserts included cake pops and twizzler “ropes” displayed in mason jars. Another favorite was the boot pinata found at Hobby Lobby. If you use…

    Children’s Birthday Party Checklist

I’ve been asked multiple times how long it takes me to plan and create my kid’s birthday parties. So here’s my secret….. it doesn’t take too much time if you get organized and stay organized from the very beginning. I typically start researching ideas around 3 months from their birthday. Any earlier you run the risk of their interests changing and they end up completely not interested in the theme you’ve already selected. The design projects are drafted around 2 months out since I make approximately 75% of the decorations myself. Within the last 8 weeks before their birthday, it’s a mad dash to the finish line complete with multiple…

    Girl Superhero Birthday Party

My daughter is full of spunk and varied interest, so for her third birthday party she wanted it to be superhero themed! At the time, there were minimal party supplies online for girl superhero parties, so I had to get creative with the color scheme and decorations, making about 90% of everything myself….on a budget. Party was at our neighborhood park, which was a perfect location for 15 kids under the age of 7 to run and play! One of my favorite projects was the invitation and thank you cards. Park tables were decorated in blue, magenta and yellow tablecloths. Desserts were kept simple…cupcakes, cake pops and chocolate dipped pretzels.…
